The statutory responsibilities of the Students’ Union
Taken from the North Rhine-Westphalia Higher Education Future Act (HZG NRW), Article 1, Part 5, Chapter 1, Section 53
- to represent the interests of its members within higher education and society
- to represent the interests of its members within the framework of this Act
- to contribute to the fulfilment of the tasks of higher education institutions (Section 3), in particular by issuing statements on issues relating to higher education or scientific policy
- to promote, on the basis of the constitutional order, the political education, civic responsibility and willingness to practise active tolerance among its members
- to address the academic, economic and social concerns of its members; in doing so, appropriate measures must be taken to take into account the specific needs of students with disabilities or chronic illnesses, those with responsibility for close relatives requiring care or support, and those with children
- to address the cultural interests of its members
- to promote student sport
- to foster inter-regional and international student relations.
